Description
These two stamps are part of a set of six stamps celebrating paintings by Raphael. One stamp shows Raphael's The Parnassus and the other shows his Disputation of the Holy Sacrament. Both frescoes are in the Stanza della Segnatura (Room of the Signatura), part of the so-called "Raphael Rooms" in the Apostolic Palace in Vatican City. In The Parnassus, Dante is the first standing figure from the left in the upper row. In the Disputation, he is the eighth from the right in the lower row, although he is difficult to distinguish in this stamp.
Across the bottom of the 75-dirham stamp is a caption as follows: "Raffaello: Parnassus"; across the bottom of the 2-riyals stamp is "Raffaello: The Dispute". At the bottom of both stamps are the denomination and country in English and in Arabic.
