Issued as part of a series to commemorate the turn of the millennium, this postage stamp portrays Dante's lifelong love and muse, Beatrice Portinari, against an Italian landscape with a quotation in English from the Vita nuova (19:11): "So Cupid speaks of her: / How can something mortal / be so beautiful and pure? / Then again he looks at / her, and decides that God / meant to create / something new.". In the top right corner of the stamp is "MILLENNIUM 2000", in the lower left corner is "ANTIGUA & / BARBUDA", and in the lower right corner is "60¢".
