Description

This set of five air mail postage stamps was issued by Guatemala in 1969. The stamps feature a portrait of Dante surrounded by imagery representing hell. Each stamp has the same text, except for denomination, as follows: at the top: "GUATEMALA / CORREO AEREO" (air mail); and at the bottom: "1265 / 1321", "DANTE ALIGHIERI". Along the bottom edge of each stamp is "GRABADOS EN ACERO GUATEMALA-CHY" (engraved in steel, Guatemala, Ch[avarr]y). The stamps were engraved by Arnoldo Chavarry.
Denomination: 7 ¢ (0.07 GTQ); 10 ¢ (0.10 GTQ); 20 ¢ (0.20 GTQ); 21 ¢ (0.21 GTQ); 35 ¢ (0.35 GTQ)
